The Signature Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to expanding access to sports while championing empowerment, diversity, sustainability, and education.
Our mission is to grow sports globally—both in the United States and in developing communities worldwide—creating opportunities for all to experience the transformative power of sports. Together, we’re building a future where sports connect, inspire, and empower players everywhere.

ABOUT OUR MISSION
We believe sports give children the tools for the future:
The Signature Foundation is on a mission to grow the game of lacrosse through empowerment, diversity, sustainability, and education.
By Introducing the Sport….
With a thoughtful approach, lacrosse teaches it’s players much more than the skills needed to be successful in the sport. With lacrosse as a vehicle, we can grow players into strong-willed individuals, through establishing teamwork, confidence, and leadership in its athletes.
The Signature Foundation partners with community organizations around the world to teach these life principles through the game. The Signature Foundation develops sustainable programming that focuses not only on the skills needed to master the game, but the skills needed to develop strong-willed leaders.
By developing leadership, character, confidence and teamwork in an athlete through the game, as well as developing the athlete within the game, we can create unprecedented opportunities for children around the world.
By Giving Opportunities Through the Sport….
After we teach the sport, supply the materials (both physical equipment & programming guidelines for a sustainable program with focus on the core values of the Signature Foundation), and develop these children, our job is not finished.
Sports give athletes opportunities in higher education, careers, and other network effects. The Signature Foundation has developed an unique and impactful platform for players to showcase their skills, attitude, and leadership in the sport to be considered for recruitment, scholarships, and pursuing a college degree.
Putting it all together…
With the help of our partners, Signature Foundation’s will introduce lacrosse to communities around the world; nurture those new programs with education for programming that establishes teamwork, confidence, inclusion, and leadership in it’s athletes; and then give those communities/ players the opportunity to be showcased for College play, scholarships, and opportunities that stem from higher education.

The Relationship
The Signature Foundation works with community partners to introduce lacrosse to their established programs.
Commitment to Diversity and Community Enrichment:
The ideal Community Partner serves a demographic in a developing community with a need for resources, youth activities, and community enrichment. To define a “developing community” we look at:
Poverty Rate in the Community
Illiteracy Rate in the Community
Minority Representation in the Community
Domestic Partners: Percentage of Students Qualifying for Free/Reduced Lunch
Programming Education
The Signature Foundation has established a curriculum for introducing lacrosse to communities around the world that values: player development and the Signature Foundation core values.
Immersion: The Signature Foundation offers volunteers, alumni, and community members the opportunity to immerse themselves in international and domestic communities to kickstart a lacrosse program. The Signature Foundation offers trips for these volunteers to go to a community, meet children and community leaders, then teach the children lacrosse & establish the lacrosse program. We do this through player clinics, coaches clinics, and program development training.
Sustainability: After the trip, we must hold the program accountable to provide sustainable programming that develops the community players by the player development model & SF core values. We do this through ongoing education materials to coaches and community leaders, monthly meetings with community leaders, and check in trips.
OUR PEOPLE
Madeline Lewis Soviero, Signature Foundation President
“Maddie” has over 5 years of direct experience in growing lacrosse with grassroots initiatives. Maddie operates 2 nonprofit youth lacrosse programs, 1 regional travel lacrosse program, countless events, clinics, camps, and experiences with growing the game of lacrosse & providing an empowering environment as the lead focuses.
Maddie has traveled around the world (from Hong Kong to Panama) to host coaches clinics and teach the game of lacrosse to developing communities. Maddie noticed a need for sustainable programming, complete education and training, and resources in her projects, which gave her the idea for the Signature Foundation’s Grow the Game initiatives.
Dan Soviero, Signature Foundation VP
Dan founded Signature Foundation’s title partner, Signature Lacrosse in 2016 in his College dorm room. Ever since, Signature Lacrosse has partnered with 300+ colleges, the National Lacrosse League (NLL), the Women’s Professional Lacrosse League (WPLL), the Major League Lacrosse (MLL), and the Canadian Lacrosse Association (CLA) to solve lacrosse’s biggest problems and make the sport more accessible.
Dan’s hard work growing Signature Lacrosse landed him Forbes’ 30 Under 30 of 2020.
In addition to being CEO of Signature Lacrosse, Dan sits as the Signature Foundation VP. Dan likes to spend his free time coaching youth lacrosse, coaching grow the game clinics, and advising local programs.
